Do something good and earn money – come to Edeltraud as a German teacher!
You love to teach, and in an international atmosphere? You want to be able to rely on a fixed income, work in a nice team and do something good? Then come to Edeltraud, the non-profit German school in Munich!
You want to do something good? It’s a match!
Here are 6 good reasons to become a German teacher with Edeltraud!
Small, homogeneous, international and motivated groups
As a teacher at Edeltraud, you enjoy the advantage of small, homogeneous international groups of up to 14 participants. Because the participants pay for the courses themselves, they are also highly motivated.
This gives you the opportunity to adapt and test your teaching methods and styles to the needs of the participants. Maybe you are studying to be a teacher and want to try out teaching methods? Then this job is perfect for you!
Good work-life balance due to little preparation time
Experienced Edeltraud teachers have developed a compendium of ready-to-use lesson plans and all supplementary materials for each lesson, tailored to the textbook. This way your preparation time will be minimal. By the way, in many schools the preparation time is not paid, although it is quite considerable, especially in the beginning.
Of course, you can also design the lessons according to your own ideas and feel free to use your own course materials, try out new things or even go on an excursion with your group.
Help (for newbies) and the best faculty in the world – really 🙂

Fair payment for freelancers
For freelance teachers the fee is:
- during the day 33€ for 60 minutes of lessons
- in the evening 36€ for 60 minutes of lessons
You can’t / don’t want to work freelance?
No problem! In addition to freelance work, Edeltraud also offers permanent positions, working student contracts and mini-jobs in the field of DaF. You are also welcome as a teacher if you are not from the EU, as long as your German is on the C1 / C2 level.
What many language schools do not tell you: As a freelance teacher you earn more gross, but you have to pay all social insurances yourself – among others 20% pension insurance. You also have to file a tax return at the end of the year and often have to pay a lot of money later. This means that your net salary will be smaller. So think carefully about what suits your life :)* For students, the working student contract is very attractive because of the low tax!

- Minijob (only 1 evening per week possible): 33€ for 60 minutes of lessons
